Unity and Togetherness

Opinion

I am looking forward to this MLK Holiday and Presidential Inauguration weekend and reflecting on this thought: We can accomplish way more TOGETHER than we can DIVIDED. Scripture says so and I am sharing a few to remind all of us of that truth.

When we come together and agree, we can accomplish any and every thing and have peace because we know that God is with us. Proof is in the Civil Rights Movement with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. leading the way and proof is in the election and re-election of President Barack Obama leading this country as President of the United States.

Matthew 18: 19-20

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

People were together in the early stages of the church. They were empowered. They believed the word and were saved. They shared their goods with one another. We believers have that same power within us today…Imagine the extraordinary things we can do now! Great things can be done, often in a short period of time. The key is being together.

Acts 1: 4-5

4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 2: 1-4

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 3: 41-45

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

Amen and Amen!!! As we celebrate this weekend and move forward this year, let’s get unified, on the same page, together!!! We may not agree on everything but we can respect each other and when the majority rules, let’s not hinder progress, things that can help a majority of the people.

Watch God do wonders within ourselves, in our families, communities, country, workplace and ministries!!!
