Question for Eternity: “Do You know the way?”
(Inspiration from message on Sunday, June 25, 2017, Rev. Jerrold Smith at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Eatonville, Florida. Message based on John 14: 1-7, Key verse: 6)
Maps, GPS don’t matter if you don’t know where you’re going! Where are you going when you leave here?
We all better know the way because only individual reservations will be honored in heaven! No group reservations will be taken to get there – the prepared place, in our Father’s house! It’s not like your family vacation, when one person books the reservation and everyone in the family has a place to stay.
From the message: Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, asked Jesus how can they know the way (after the disciples heard the disturbing news that Jesus would be departing this world and that one of them would betray him).
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Key verse:6
Key points of the message: We will have disappointments in life. We will receive disturbing news but we have to 1. have faith over emotions 2. know our final destination. If we want to go to heaven, we have to know Jesus, have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and 3. We have to follow Jesus to our Father’s (God’s) house.
God reaches out to us; we don’t have to work our way into heaven. The the father in tthe story of the prodigal son, God reaches out to us and waits for us with open arms.
If you have never accepted Jesus into your heart, today is a good day to do so. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
The Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
It doesn’t matter where you are right now; you can be saved and have eternal life. You can know the way. Accept him in your heart, for the forgiveness of all of your sins and for this gift of eternal life…this reserves your place!
How do you get started? Establish a relationship with God by confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. You will be saved. (from Romans 10:9)
