Meadowbrook Middle School’s Fine Arts Program will travel to Washington, D.C. to perform at the National World War II Memorial in May. So school officials and volunteers have put together a unique fundraiser, called Family Fun Night, to help band and choir members with the cost to make the trip.
They are inviting the entire community, especially students and their families, to take part. The fundraising event, held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the first Tuesdays each month through April 1, features fun activities such as Bingo, karaoke and dance-off. Food is also available during Family Fun Nights.
Mario Ford, band director at the school, said the purpose of the event is to raise funds but also encourage community involvement. The trip would expose students from the Pine Hills community to the sights and wonders of our nation’s capitol. About 60 students will go and many of them have never traveled out of the local area.
Meadowbrook is located at 6000 North Lane in Orlando. For further details, contact Ford at 407-296-5130, ext. 2228 or the school’s Performing Arts Director Maria Bryant at 407.296.5130, ext. 2230.
