July 18, 2020 (Orlando) — Parents and guardians: If you’ve been looking for ways to talk to your child or children about racism and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, you may want to take them to a rally this morning in downtown Orlando. That’s where teen activists will addresss and inspire their peers on the topic, according Lawanna Gelzer, one of the organizers of the event.
This event, starting at 10 a.m. at City Commons Plaza, is inspired by the Birmingham Children’s Crusade in 1963. “The Children’s March for Justice,” today is also a continuation of the BLM protests that have been held for more than a month in Orlando.
COVID-19 precautions will be enforced so participants/ please wear a mask.
City Commons Plaza is located at 400 S. Orange Ave., Orlando.
