Jazz In the Hills On Tap This Weekend

cropped-jazzinthehills.jpgIf you haven’t heard about Jazz in the Hills, you must have been living under a rock – as the saying goes. Seriously, the champion for the event Nouchelle Hastings and her team have done a good job of letting everyone know about the unique event right here in Pine Hills on Saturday, September 27.

Jazz in the Hills, presented in two separate events by the Greater Orlando CARES organization, will benefit children and citizens in the community through the arts. Organizers cite that the influence of jazz education helps children with math, science and social skills, as well as builds their confidence.

The main event, Jazz Educational Day, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5230 Indian Hills Road, Orlando. It boasts a series of villages that take you from traditional jazz moments to contemporary ones and even how to produce a show – and more.

That evening, there is a Jazzy Chic Reception, featuring national recording jazz artist Najee. Held at the Soiree Event Center (6394 Silver Star Road, Orlando), the event will also feature ‘Della Reese’ by Ms. B of Star 94.5 FM radio and a list of artists mostly from the Central Florida area. Reserved seating is $50 (VIP – per person) and $85 (VIP – per couple), which includes light hors d’oerves, meet and greet and professional picture taken with artist.  General admission online only: $25.

The Greater Orlando CARES organization is an affiliate of National Cares Mentoring Movement founded by Susan L. Taylor, Editor Emeritus, Essence Magazine.
