WALKING FOR A CAUSE
Family and friends of Orlando Community News plan to walk over the next few months for several worthy causes. You are welcome to take part!
Walk to End Alzheimer’s
The walk is on Saturday, October 27, at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando.
This benefit walk is a first for me and it is near and dear to my heart. My sister set up the team – “Mozell Johnson Family and Friends” – in honor of our grandmother who lost her battle to the disease in January 2009.
Your support of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s will help the Alzheimer’s Association to enhance Alzheimer’s care and support and advance critical research for all those affected by this devastating disease. GET STARTED at: www.alz.org. You can join our team and one of the walkers in the fundraiser effort. Also, the organization has a 24/7 help line for families: 1-800-272-3900.
Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes
The walk is on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Harbor Park in the Lake Baldwin area (Orlando)
We’ve walked for many years in this local benefit walk, through work, church and family. Millions of adults and children are living with diabetes and the disease affects many families in the community. I walk on behalf of my mom and other family members.
You can register for the walk, make a donation or volunteer for the event at the American Diabetes Association’s website: www.diabetes.org. They have a Center for Information and Support available 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. EDT: 1-800-342-2383.
