April 7, 2026 (Orange County, FL) – The new mayor of the county’s second largest city, Apopka, will be decided by voters in a run-off election next Tuesday, April 14. Early voting has already started and will continue through Friday, April 10 at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office and through Sunday, April 12 at the Apopka Community Center. Hours for early voting at the elections office: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and at the community center: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Who will it be Christine Moore or Nicholas L. Nesta III?

While no one received the required 50% plus one vote in the March 10 General Election, Nesta got the most votes, 3365 or 41.60 percent, Moore got 2576 votes or 31.85 and incumbent mayor Bryan Nelson got 2148 votes or 26.55 percent.
Nesta, current City of Apopka Commissioner, Seat 4, is facing Moore, current Orange County Commissioner, District 2.
This race has been everything but quiet. Mayor Nelson sued Moore in court, mainly alleging she didn’t qualify to run because she didn’t live in the city limits a year of the March general election, as required by the city charter. Nelson dropped the lawsuit shortly after that election, reports say.
The City of Apopka has five elected officials, including mayor, who are elected at large (by all registered voters within the city limits). The elected officials serve four-year terms.
About 20 percent of Apopka’s registered voters turned out for the March election, according to the elections office.
For early voting: the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office is located at 119 W. Kaley Street, Orlando, FL 32806 and the Apopka Community Center is located at 519 S. Central Avenue, Apopka, FL 32703.
